Me and Mrs M at Old Castle Archdale, in Enniskillen

Old Castle Archdale Park-Up, Enniskillen

We’ve ditched the coast for the calm of Old Castle Archdale, tucked beside Lower Lough Erne in County Fermanagh. It’s the kind of park-up where the “stealth campers” all look suspiciously like electricians on a break, the trails are half closed thanks to storm damage, and the dogs think they’ve discovered a new kingdom. Mrs. M’s off celebrating her 50th, I’ve got Starlink pointed at the sky, and the forest is quiet enough to hear Lucky snore — all in all, not a bad way to end the day. Tiraroe Quay, Enniskillen at night

Tiraroe Quay Park-Up: Lovely Views, Terrible Logistics

We rocked up to Tiraroe Quay in the kind of rain that makes you question life choices. Park4Night said “one space only,” but someone had beaten us to it. With nowhere to turn on a dead-end road, we parked nose-first at Lough Erne and hoped for the best. Lovely views by morning, but not a spot we’d brave again after dark. Park Up at Enniscrone Pier – Because Van Life Isn’t Just For Summer Instagram Posts

Enniscrone Pier in County Sligo is a winter wonderland for off-season vanlifers—if you enjoy freezing winds and questionable swimming choices! With stunning views and solitude, it’s perfect for dog owners and social media avoiders. Just remember: bring waterproofs, plan for toilet emergencies, and enjoy the sauna-spectator sport! Derry Halloween Parade 2025: Motorhome Mods, Fireworks & a Mocktail in Derry City

Every October, Derry transforms into a goth paradise, hosting Europe’s largest Halloween parade with 40,000 attendees—some went as their actual selves (thanks, Mrs. M!). Amid chaos, a DIY van project turned into a wiring horror. Yet, fireworks, fairgrounds, and a swamp-like mocktail capped off a hilariously spooky adventure. Halloween miracles do exist! Motorhome Facilities in Derry: A Rant from the Car Park

You’d think Northern Ireland’s second city would have a few basic motorhome facilities, right? Somewhere to dump waste, grab some water, and avoid parking at an angle sharp enough to give you vertigo. But here I am, once again, at St. Columb’s Park, wondering if I need to send Mark Durkan another politely irritated email.… Continue Reading Motorhome Facilities in Derry: A Rant from the Car Park

Back from Corfu: Mosquitoes, Motorhomes and Mrs. M’s 50th Birthday Tour

Back from Corfu and straight back into vanlife chaos. Mrs. M’s 50th birthday trip was all cocktails, mosquitoes, and questionable tribute acts. Now we’re parked up at Banagher Glen near Dungiven, swapping beach loungers for muddy boots, watching autumn roll in, and pretending the solar panels can handle winter. Continue Reading Back from Corfu: Mosquitoes, Motorhomes and Mrs. M’s 50th Birthday Tour

Four Nights with n8n: My Descent into Automation Madness

After four sleepless nights rebuilding my Make.com automations in n8n, I’ve learned two things: sleep is overrated and curly brackets are evil. Make.com might be Lego for beginners, but n8n is the engineering degree nobody warned me about. Here’s how I swapped cold dinners for JSON headaches, and built a LinkedIn Guru Machine that even made me gag. Continue Reading Four Nights with n8n: My Descent into Automation Madness

Motorhome Life in Derry: Dentists, Babysitting & The Joy of Free Parking

Ah, motorhome life in Derry. Instagram will show you golden sunsets over the Peace Bridge and latte art at the Craft Village. My reality? A sourdough bread ambush in Whitehead that snapped my dental bridge clean out, and an emergency dentist appointment that turned Bishop Street into my personal overnight park-up. Free Parking, Free Stress… Continue Reading Motorhome Life in Derry: Dentists, Babysitting & The Joy of Free Parking
