Overview
The DJI Pocket 3 is a pocket-sized gimbal camera designed for creators on the move. It takes the hassle out of carrying bulky gear by giving you stabilized 4K footage in a device smaller than most chocolate bars. For nomads like us, that’s gold — less kit to pack, fewer cables to trip over, and more time actually shooting.
Key Features
1-inch CMOS sensor – much improved low-light performance compared to the Pocket 2.
4K/120fps video – buttery smooth for cinematic b-roll.
3-axis gimbal stabilization – walk, run, or get chased by midges, your footage stays steady.
Rotating 2-inch OLED screen – proper framing without squinting.
Built-in Wi-Fi & Bluetooth – easy transfer to your phone or tablet.
Wide-angle lens option – perfect for capturing the whole motorhome interior or sweeping landscapes.

Real-World Use
I’ve been using the Pocket 3 for vanlife filming and YouTube vlogs. The wide-angle lens is a lifesaver for tight spaces inside the van, and the stabilisation means I don’t look like I’m filming during an earthquake when walking the dogs.
Low-light is where it really shines, no more grainy late-evening campfire footage. The audio is decent straight out of the box, but for proper content, I’d still recommend an external mic (included in the Combo-Kit)
Pros & Cons
Pros:
Tiny but powerful (fits in a coat pocket).
Excellent stabilization and low-light.
Quick setup – no faffing about with tripods.
Perfect companion for vanlife and travel vlogs.
Cons:
Pricey for beginners.
Battery life is decent but not epic (carry a power bank).
Still not a replacement for a DSLR if you’re a pro filmmaker.
Conclusion
The DJI Pocket 3 is hands-down one of the best bits of kit for vanlifers who want to capture high-quality video without hauling a suitcase of gear. It’s not the cheapest, but for the size and performance, it earns its place in the Tech Review hall of fame.
